Senior Director of Operations and Business Development

This position is responsible for ensuring the provision of high quality services to senior members of the community, expansion of these and related-services into the DC market, and maintaining current operations and developing future plans for our Maryland facility. You will interface with key stakeholders of the organization, including members of the Senior Management, local and regional community leaders, and government officials neighboring jurisdictions. The position reports to the Chief Operating Officer.

Senior Accountant
Ingleside at King Farm

Ingleside at King Farm, a remarkable planned Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), seeks a Senior Accountant.
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for processing financial transactions and journal entries in the general ledgers for Ingleside at King Farm and two affiliated retirement communities. This position also assists with preparation of financial analyses and the financial statements in their support role to the Corporate Director of Finance.

Perform full accounting cycle functions as assigned including, but not limited to timely and accurate posting, balancing, and reconciliation of the general ledger for each entity. Prepares work papers, financial statements, and various reports for internal accounting and auditing.
Researches and analyzes fluctuations and variances between current financial results compared to prior year, prior month, and budgeted amounts. Assist in providing follow-up and documentation of significant variances. Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual statements for board packets, bondholders and creditor reporting. Works with independent auditors to ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements. Assists in preparation of monthly management report and accompanying schedules, worksheets and narratives, including “Budget vs. Actual” variance reports. Recommends changes in accounting systems and procedures. Assists with budget activity, proper expenditure coding, document preparation, and other accounting-related activities. Reviews work completed by other staff, including but not limited to HR, payroll coordinator, accounts payable personnel and any other designated staff to ensure accurate financial transactions. Coordinate and resolve various issues with bank such as cleared check differences, bank fee anomalies, targeted balance calculations and enhancements to online services. Provide back-up month-end support for duties assigned to other accountants as needed. Document policies, procedures and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility. Maintain project log for Senior Accountant position. Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned. The individual will work closely with all major functional leaders of the organization. Strong problem solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills. Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.

Bachelors of Science in Accounting or equivalent from an accredited university. Four to six years progressively responsible experience in the public accounting or life care retirement communities industry, preferably in the not-for-profit sector.
