Maryland Affordable Housing Lobby Day is Feb 16th!
LifeSpan is joining the Maryland Affordable Housing Coalition as a sponsor of it's important annual affordable housing lobby day on February 16th. The Maryland Affordable Housing Coalition organizes each year a Housing Day to impress upon our State legislators the importance of providing support for our rental housing programs— programs that help people.
This year is more important than ever as LifeSpan will help MAHC to defend a level housing budget when cuts are being made throughout the budget. MAHC is also seeking a $2 million GO bond appropriation for the Maryland Affordable Housing Trust to supplement their declining funds. In short, it is an important year for housing advocates to make our impact felt and LifeSpan will be there to support this important effort.

Who Will Care? Progress Report, February 2010
The Who Will Care? Fund for Nurse Education was established in 2008 for the purpose of doubling the number of nursing students that graduate from Maryland schools. The state is projected to be short over 10,000 RNs by 2016. Without a concerted effort to increase graduation rates, Maryland will not have a sufficient number of RNs to provide care for its growing population.
The Who Will Care? funding goal is to raise $20 million to initiate changes, and then leverage an additional $40 million from other sources to sustain them.
